Hello Kitty was already set to pair up with Sonic from Sonic the Hedgehog for the latter character's 34th anniversary. To commemorate this, Sanrio and Sonic have now added some new faces to its upcoming merchandise line.

Sega teamed up with Sanrio earlier this year for a collaboration that turnedSonic, Shadow, and the rest of the hedgehog's closest friends and enemies into cosplayingHelloKittycharacters.

Back in September, Hello Kitty and her pals brought some much-needed smiles to the Evangelion cast, as part of a collaboration between Sanrio and the famously somber mecha anime. It was a testament to how Kitty-chan’s crew can get along with anyone, and sure enough, they’re expanding their circle of friends yet again, this time to include Sonic the Hedgehog.

Sonic the Hedgehog and Hello Kitty mascots appeared at the event’s Sega Fave booth to reveal the collaboration, according to Essential Japan (via Sonic City).

On July 22, 2016 at the Sonic 25th Anniversary Party, a special crossover for Sonic and Sanrio was announced. The collaboration consisted of the classic-styled versions of Sonic the Hedgehog characters Sonic, Tails, Amy and Knuckles mashed-up with Sanrio characters Hello Kitty, Chococat, My Melody and Badtz-Maru.
